Coming into Kindergarten, students SHOULD be able to:

 

Gross Motor Skills

• go up and down stairs while alternating feet

• pumps legs to swing on the playground equipment

 

Fine Motor Skills

• hold scissors properly and cut using them

• practice proper pencil grip (see YouTube videos)

• hold crayons properly and color a picture

• play with play-doh

What can you do at home??

• let your child play with scissors and paper

• when coloring with crayons, color lightly and darker to experiment with pressure

• let your child dress themselves with buttons, zippers, tying, snaps, etc.

• play with finger paints and water colors with a brush

• mold and create with play-doh and clay (requires more muscles in your child's hands)
